To create and maintain safe, healthy and supportive environment for SC / ST staff and students in the campus.
To address the issues of staff and students, belonging to schedule caste / schedule tribes in the Institute and to prevent atrocities against them.
To comply with AICTE regulations for the establishment of the Committee for SC / ST (As per the Scheduled Caste and the Scheduled Tribes (prevention of Atrocities) act, 1989, No. 33 of1989, dated 11/09/1989)
Responsibilities:
To look into the complaints if any received from the concerned staff and students belonging to SC / ST.
Functions of the SC/ST Cells:
The scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) Cell in an institute promotes the special interest of students in the reserved category and to provide special inputs in areas where the students experience difficult.
To deal with representations received from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates regarding their admission.
Associated Activities:
The Cell may conduct regular remedial coaching classes on life skills, personality development, writing assignments and making presentations, as well as English and local language classes.
The Cell also is expected to organize interactive sessions and informal meetings with students to attend to their personal, social and academic problems.
Guide the SC/ST students of the Institute, to optimally utilize the benefits of the schemes offered by the State Governments, Government of India (GOI) and UGC.
Procedure:
The member Secretary, in consultation with the Chairman of the Committee, shall prepare a provisional agenda for meeting.
It shall be circulated to all Members of the Committee two days before meeting.
All the decisions should be taken on the basis of majority.
After the meeting, the Committee shall approve a report embodying its views, recommendations and decisions.
Maintain records of the committee in a separate file with supporting documents (notice/photos/ Statistical data /minutes of meeting).
