Academics

About:

The Academic Committee is headed by Dean Academics, heads of all departments and department academic coordinators (DAC). AMC is responsible for planning and monitoring of overall academic operations, activities, procedures, functioning and maintaining all relevant documents and records in association with various committee/coordinators of the department. The AMC is responsible for all academic aspects to ensure the effective planning and implementation of curriculum.

Objectives:

  • To provide clear guidelines to all teaching staff regarding curriculum planning and implementation.
  • To develop a mechanism for academic monitoring to ensure effective implementation of academic plans.
  • To ensure that all departments have done proper planning before the commencement of semester for conduction of lectures and practical’s.
  • To ensure that effective continuous assessment and evaluation is followed and the attainment of course outcomes and eventually the program outcomes are met.
  • To ensure that students are mentored for academic and overall development, and slow and advanced learners are taken care as per their needs.
  • To monitoring the academic performance, training and placement of the students.

Functions:

  • Arranging teaching requirements for successful completion of academic programs of the institute and supervising the same periodically.
  • Facilitating Controller of Examinations for making arrangements for conducting examinations, as per the norms of AITM.
  • Recommending the Governing Body for providing the necessary infrastructural, human resources and other requirements for progressing towards achievement of the vision of the institute.
  • Facilitating supervision of the functioning of computing and IT infrastructure, central library and other learning resources of the institute.
  • Facilitating promotion of research culture in the institute through collaboration and corroboration among faculty.
  • Encouraging collaboration with other academic institutes and industry.
  • Creating a conducive environment for development of entrepreneurship.
  • Ensuring discipline among students.
  • Facilitating and supervising the co-curricular activities of the students.
  • Recommending the Management for encouraging students with awards, stipends, scholarships, medals and prizes and so on.
  • Inspiring students to be creative and innovative and recommending management to encourage them with financial support towards the same.
  • Appointing committees from amongst the institute teaching faculty and experts from outside, in order to sort out and advise on specific academic issues and consequently acting on the recommendations of such committees after due consideration.
  • Planning and executing the overall academic growth of the institute by making recommendations to the Board of Governing Body, wherever necessary.

Composition of the Committee:

The AMC is constituted under the chairmanship of head of the institution, heads of all department and senior faculty members from all departments. The composition of the AMC may be as follows:

  • The AMC coordinator, in consultation with the Chairperson of the Committee, shall prepare a provisional agenda for meeting.
  • It shall be circulated to all Members of the Committee two days before meeting.
  • All the decisions should be taken on the basis of majority.
  • After the meeting, the Committee shall approve a report embodying its views, recommendations and decisions.
  • Maintain records of the committee in a separate file with supporting documents (notice/photos/Statistical data /minutes of meeting).
