Red Cross Committee

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, born of a desire to bring assistance without discrimination to the wounded on the battlefield, endeavors, in its international and national capacity, to prevent and alleviate human suffering wherever it may be found. Its purpose is to protect life and health and to ensure respect for the human being. It promotes mutual understanding, friendship, cooperation and lasting peace amongst all peoples.

Objectives:

  • To inculcate in the Youth of our country
  • Awareness on the care of their own health and that of others
  • Understanding and acceptance of civic responsibilities and acting accordingly with humanitarian concern, to fulfill the same
  • To enable the growth and development of a spirit of service and sense of duty with dedication and devotion in the minds of youth
  • To foster better friendly relationship with all without any discrimination
  • to serve as an outlet for the College Youth Red Cross volunteer services in the community

Responsibilities:

  • To meet out the above objectives the committee will take care to organize various social activities for Students throughout the year.
  • To arrange discussions and workshops of group of students on a regular basis on issues of social importance, ethical relevance and moral values.
  • To organize social service groups and clubs as well as outdoor filed activities, to encourage and involve students in social service activities.

Associated Activities:

  • Blood Donation camp: Arranging Blood Donation camps and highlighting the usefulness of Blood donation among the students community.
  • Awareness Programmes and seminars: Health awareness programmes on HIV/AIDS, Cancer, Drug Abuse, etc…
  • First Aid Training: First Aid and Fire Safety training.
  • Orphanage Visits: Visits to orphanages and poor homes for distribution of food, clothes and medicines
  • Village Camp: Village camp focuses on the welfare of residents of the particular village through medical camps, cleaning, survey and by teaching principles of red cross to school children

Procedure:

  • The member Secretary, in consultation with the Chairman of the Committee, shall prepare a provisional agenda for meeting.
  • It shall be circulated to all Members of the Committee two days before meeting.
  • All the decisions should be taken on the basis of majority.
  • After the meeting, the Committee shall approve a report embodying its views, recommendations and decisions.
  • Maintain records of the committee in a separate file with supporting documents (notice/photos/ Statistical data /minutes of meeting).
