The library committee consists of a group of persons who are empowered to do certain jobs relating to development of library and its administration. The library committee includes a chairman, a secretary or a convener, members. The Library committee, which has an enormous power to select the personnel, acquisition of books, journals and other study materials, responsible for fund allotment etc
Objectives:
- Adopting measures to enhance readership
- Increasing the reading habit in the library users
- Inculcating new and latest technologies in library services and activities
Functions & Responsibilities of the committee:
The Library Committee meets once in a semester to discuss various issues related to Library facilities and services and advises suitable solutions for better functioning. It acts as an internal auditor for quality checking and provides support and guidance. To render the library user-friendly, the committee meets regularly to discuss and finalize proposed policies, budget, specific issues and suggestions to the library. The committee also studies the library needs and issues of its maintenance.
- Guides the Librarian in formulating general library policies and regulations which govern the functions of the library.
- Works towards modernization and improvement of Library and documentation Services.
- Formulates policies and procedures for efficient use of Library resources.
- Prepares budget and proposals for the development of the Library.
- Seeking feedback on Library functions and service from readers.
- Maintain adequate library facilities for optimum use
- Lay down the rules & regulations.
- Procuring relevant books & subscribe related periodicals/Journals, and Electronic Resources.
- Prepare the annual budget, rules and regulations of the library
