Exploring the Depths of Structural Engineering: Civil Engineering Students, AITM Visit METOFABRIK Construction Site
In a transformative endeavor to bridge academia with real-world applications, the Civil Engineering Department’s 3rd, 5th, and 8th-semester students embarked on a remarkable visit to the METOFABRIK construction site in Nandihalli, Belagavi on February 29, 2024.
The visit, a pivotal component of the industry-institute interaction program, facilitated experiential learning, offering students an immersive opportunity to delve into the intricacies of structural engineering. As they explored the METOFABRIK construction site, students gained invaluable insights into the various components of Pre Engineered Buildings (PEB) and steel structures, along with a firsthand experience of industrial buildings.
Structural design engineer, Mr. Akshay Divate, played a pivotal role in enhancing the students’ understanding by providing knowledge on the design principles of industrial and steel structures, fabrication processes, and on-site installation of steel members.
Guiding the students through this enriching experience were the faculty from the Civil Engineering Department. Dr. G. S. Manjunatha, Head of the Department, and faculty members Prof. Kiran Koraddi, Prof. Sagar Belagaonkar, Prof. Ashok Hipparagi, and Prof. Ravi Tilaganji, shared their expertise, aiming to augment the students’ comprehension of the intricate design aspects associated with steel structures.
