Internal Committee for the Students with Disabilities(ICSD)

About ICSD Cell:

As per National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) guidelines every accredited institution should establish an Internal Committee for the Students with Disabilities (ICSD) for taking care of day to day needs of differently abled students as well as for implementation of the schemes existing and to be devised in future and to report proper functioning of equal opportunity cell

Objectives:

To foster respect and promote inclusiveness and ensure participation of students with disabilities in all activities at the Institution.
To aid and assist the Institution in formulating campus-wide, disability-friendly policies.
To improve the accessibility of the Institute, in terms of both physical as well as virtual infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

To provide disable friendly environment at the campus.
To examine student requests, consulting with medical practitioner at the institute.
If necessary, to decide and grant accommodations based on student requests
Easy accessibility of resources to the student.
Protect the confidentiality of students’ disability-related information.

Functions:

The Cell may conduct formal meetings once in a semester with faculty coordinators.
The Cell is also expected to organize interactive sessions and informal meetings with students.

Constitution:

The ICDS may be constituted in every institution under the chairmanship of head of the institution including teachers / faculty members, students and parents. The composition of the ICDS may be as follows:

The Institution has disabled-friendly, barrier free environment.
Built environment with ramps/lifts for easy access to classrooms, Admin Block, Bank Counter, Disabled-friendly washrooms etc.
Wheel Chair facility and Signage including tactile path, lights, display boards and signposts are also provided.
